The extension to and refurbishment of an existing Paddington ‘corner store’ was commissioned by a film production company to house their new offices.
A long consultative process with council resulted in the colour images shown. In order to create a unique and interesting address for the company while respecting the heritage character of the existing building and the area we created a brick screen with organic patterns and perforations. This provided light and privacy to the new spaces while avoiding the faux replication of heritage windows and roof forms. The existing timber paling fence was replaced by a perforated brick one that wraps around the existing large tree, leaving the tree on the street side and in the public realm.
